Denise A. Barney, LMSW, CAADC

Denise specializes in substance abuse treatment and has provided both inpatient and outpatient services for more than 2 decades to people who struggle with comorbidity, both mental health issues and substance abuse/dependency disorders.

In addition to her substance abuse treatment specialty, Denise treats adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship conflicts, life transitions, borderline personality traits, self-esteem issues, co-dependency, and trauma.

Education and Experience

Denise graduated from Wayne State University with a Masters of Social Work degree in 2005, and is a fully Licensed Master Social Worker and a Certified Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor. Denise also served as the program developer for a substance abuse education program for probationers for a local district court.

Denise prides herself on providing a comfortable atmosphere in order to build a trusting working relationship. Denise’s treatment philosophy is client centered and she employs cognitive behavioral approaches and techniques. She believes strongly in meeting a person where they are in life, and to be an active listener to each client’s life struggles and challenges, assisting them in finding solutions to their life problems.

Denise believes it a privilege to work with individuals and see the changes they go through in order to live a well balanced and successful life.
