Lisa A. Abed, LLMSW

Lisa provides individual therapy to teens and adults of all ages, focusing on self-awareness, emotional regulation, and coping skills. She works with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, life adjustments, stress, mood disorders, career concerns, and challenges in parenting children with special
needs. Lisa can also integrate Biblical principles into her treatment when requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Lisa is a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Widener University. Lisa has experience as an AmeriCorps interventionist working with teens in crisis and experiencing homelessness, working with PATH (Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness), and with Community Housing Network to assist displaced people in finding stable housing. Lisa has worked as a school social worker specializing in assessing and developing IEP and person-centered plans and providing interventions for students with special needs, including students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Lisa has experience working as a case manager / therapist for individuals with co- occurring mental health disorders, providing diagnostic and on-going therapeutic interventions.

As a therapist, her goal is to serve as a non-judgmental advocate and provide a safe, open space for clients to discuss their life experiences. She strives to help clients find solutions and manage challenges using a person-centered approach. Lisa utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods, with a core foundation in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
