COURTNEY B. CARLETON, MA, LLC

Courtney works with all ages (children, teens, adults), in counseling. She specializes in working with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, behavior problems, and couples therapy. Courtney aims to help clients understand and develop their own goals while building motivation from within using motivational interviewing and assists clients in managing emotions and behaviors through cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness approaches.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Courtney earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI. Courtney is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC). Courtney’s background includes providing treatment for people in a psychiatric hospital setting, and in conducting clinical assessments and providing treatment for individuals accessing community-based services to treat behavioral health issues, co-occurring disorders, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional impairments. Courtney has received training in the Relational Life Therapy Method of couples counseling, the Gottman Method of couples counseling, and polyvagal inspired play therapy for children.

Courtney is passionate about helping clients develop a better understanding of themselves while feeling better about themselves through improved self-esteem and by building important skills for coping with life’s challenges. She believes that the ability to live a happy and fulfilling life is within all individuals regardless of what current challenges they might be facing and strives to assist clients in achieving this potential.
