DAVID SWEET, LMSW, CAADC, CTP-C

David works with a wide array of clients including teenagers, adults and couples and is passionate about helping others recognize and fulfill their potential. David has successfully aided his clients in addressing a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, past trauma, substance abuse, anger management, life adjustment issues, relationship concerns, behavioral problems and self-esteem concerns.  David encourages each of his clients to further cultivate their internal motivation in the process of setting and realizing their own goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

David earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and his Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University. David is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), and a Certified Trauma Practitioner – Clinical (CTP-C). David’s expertise is focused on the mental health and substance abuse issues of adults, providing individual, group, and couples’ counseling with the goal of assisting them in nurturing their collective sense of perseverance and mutual respect. Additionally, David has experience serving at risk youth in school and residential settings. David integrates Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT) and The Gottman Method when working with couples in relationship counseling.

He believes that his clients’ strengths can be utilized and built upon, in order for them to successfully navigate life’s challenges.  David’s down-to-earth, empathic and caring demeanor help to create a non-judgmental, open and healing therapeutic experience. David skillfully integrates a variety of treatment approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in helping his clients live fulfilling lives.
