Janice’s clientele includes children (ages 6+), adolescents, adults, couples, and families who struggle with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief/loss/trauma, psychosocial adjustments, and issues related to substance abuse and relationships.
Education and Experience
Janice completed her Masters in Counseling with a post-Master’s specialty in Mental Health at Oakland University in 1988. Janice is a Limited License Psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. In 2000 she received certification as a Trauma and Loss Specialist. Janice also has training in Critical Incident Response and has worked on in-patient mental and substance abuse units. Janice served as a Psychometrist with the Neuro-Behavioral Diagnostic Treatment Center and a part of the Mobile Behavioral Assessment Team (MOBAT) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
A Bit About Janice
Janice is passionate about the unique client-therapist relationship that forms during the therapeutic process. She believes that it is essential that each client as a non-judgmental, empathic, and safe environment in which to explore feelings, thoughts, and beliefs, and where insights can be gained on the internal struggles that have been barriers to self-healing and transformation.
To assist in this healing process, Janice uses an individualized approach, integrating various methods including cognitive behavioral, insight oriented, and solution focused treatments.
