TANESHA A. TERRELL, LLMSW, CAADC/DP-C

Tanesha works with adolescents (age 13+), and men and women of all ages providing individual therapy and couples counseling for a variety of mental health disorders and substance abuse disorders. Tanesha is skilled at helping clients develop coping/calming techniques, identifying and correcting unhealthy thinking patterns, identifying relapse triggers and cues, and improving emotional regulation. Tanesha treats people who experience substance abuse symptoms, depressive and anxiety symptoms related to trauma, depression, life-transitions, domestic violence, career challenges and family conflict.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Tanesha is a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Oakland University and a master’s degree in social work (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Focus), from Wayne State University. Tanesha is near completion of attaining the Certified Advanced Addiction and Drug Counselor (CAADC) credentials. Tanesha has experience working with people who have co-occurring disorders, providing therapeutic services in residential settings, out-patient settings, and community out-reach programs for at-risk youth. She has training in trauma focused therapy and has led “Seeking Safety” groups for women who have experienced trauma.

Tanesha’s goal as a therapist is to be a non-judgmental advocate providing a safe place for clients to share openly about their life experiences. Tanesha wants to help clients achieve solutions and deal with issues using the person-centered approach. Tanesha integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches in working with clients, with a solid foundation of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
